The city lies to the west of the Mississippi River and is one of the two cities that make up the Twin Cities. The other city of course is St. Paul which is to the east of the Mississippi River.

According to the 2010 Census, the City of Minneapolis has a population of 382,578 people. Combined with St. Paul, the Twin Cities and surrounding metro area are the 16th largest metropolitan area in the country with nearly 3.3 million people.

The Minnesota Capitol is located in downtown St. Paul as well as the Cathedral which was recently named the official shrine to St. Paul by the Roman Catholic Church.
St. Paul consists of many wonderful neighborhoods with older houses with lots of character. The city also boasts several colleges and universities including the University of St. Thomas, Hamline University, the College of St. Catherine, and Macalaster College.
St. Paul is one of THE places to be come St. Patrick's Day where there is quite a celebration in downtown St. Paul. Enjoy the many restaurants and bars throughout the city.
Whereas Minneapolis is known for having the newer steel and glass skyscrapers, St. Paul has generally maintained a more historic feel with it's downtown buildings.
